Emily Grace Gustavison

Our precious baby girl came to us earlier than we expected. Emily was born into heaven on March 23,2009 at 4:34pm. She was 6 oz and 9 inches long. She had her mommy's hands and her daddy's feet. She was absolutely beautiful. I had not been feeling the same and decided to check on my precious bundle of joy. I didn't hear anything so I went straight up to the maternity department. They determined that Emily had passed some time between week 20 and 21. We notified our parents and family members. Those who could came up right away others sent their love and prayers. After delivery we were able to spend many precious hours with our little angel. We are grateful to the staff of Henry Ford Maternity ward, who took care of all three of us. Words can not describe the gift you gave to us. We thank all our friends and families who prayed and continue to keep us in their prayers during the next few months.

22 weeks YAY!!

Well, we made it to week 22!! YAY!!! We have only 4 more months to go!!! I am feeling pretty good. Although last weekend was pretty much couch bound due to the most horrible pain in my left hip. All the girls at work reassure that it is just round ligament pain. "oh great!! Now my ligaments are stretching!!" Just teasing I expected it, but man did it hurt!! Baby Emily is still moving around a lot but we still can't feel any kicking!! People are starting to notice that I am pregnant without me having to explain that I can't help lift patients!! I have still only gained 12-13 pounds!!! I am doing my best to eat healthy and drink lots of water but Emily likes Taco bell!!! We hope everyone is doing well!! See ya soon!!!

Offical ultrasoun!!!

Yesterday we had the official ultrasound done. First of all, its torture having to drink 40 oz. of fluid, hold it for that long and then let someone push around on that full bladder. However it was all worth it to see one glimpse of our poppy. Thankfully the ultrasound tech gave us some of the images on CD so we can share them with all our loved ones. The night before Zach kept saying, "Hopefully its still a girl because Rachel has been telling everyone its a girl." I think he forgot he told people too! The ultrasound lady confirmed it. We are having a little girl. She showed us the three lines you look that represent the female genitals. Unfortunately she didn't put that on the CD. We watched her little heart beat and her arms and legs move across the screen. She is much bigger than the last time we saw her. I can't believe the first time we saw her she was just a small poppy seed and now we can see her spine and heart move rapidly. So after the ultrasound, I had an appointment with Dr. Levin. The first thing he said was, "If its a boy do you want him circumcised?" I said, "but its a girl." He just laughed and repeated the question. I was a proud mommy showing off my baby's first glamor shots to all my coworkers who would pay attention. I am really excited for everyone to see her. Now all we have to do is wait another 4 1/2 months to meet her in person.

Zach putting together Poppy's Stroller!!!

There isn't much of Zach in this little blog. He is very excited about Poppy so I thought I would share these pictures of him putting together Poppy's stroller. This was our second purchase (the first was the crib and dresser) but Zach's first duty of assembly. We went ahead about the stroller because it was on sale. Although in true Zach fashion he would have prefered spending $15 on an umbrella stroller. I don't think he realize that Poppy already has him around its finger!!!

Another ultrasound done by Me!

Hey everyone!! This is another ultrasound that I did at work!! Its amateur, and you can tell it. But there are some place that you can defiantly tell what body parts are what. There is some movement so bare with me!! I just can't get enough of seeing my little one.

Today's Doctor's Appointmet!!!

Today, we had our third appointment with Dr. Levin! Its started with stepping on the scale. I have decided that I hate his scale and that from now on all my appointments are going to be in the morning. It said I weighed 9 pounds more than 5 weeks ago. I think they should take in to consideration that I am fully dressed, just ate lunch and it was 2 in the afternoon. My scale didn't say I weighed that much!! I guess I am just gonna have to get over this, but from now on I am keeping track of my weight gain on my own. Okay! Okay! I have been eating more and I have really enjoyed the Mexican food followed up by some cookie dough ice cream. LOL! I am currently 14 weeks! (15 on Friday!). I am starting feel more energized and haven't taken a nap all week long. Zach and I got a membership to the gym so we have been working out. He is determined not to gain a baby belly like me. However, he hasn't said no to going to get tacos or ice cream so I guess we will see. Today we also listened to the heartbeat. This is the first time in the office. I recorded it on my phone so I could call our parents to let them hear the precious sound. Our next appointment is on Feb 23, 2008. At that appointment I will be 20 weeks (halfway done!!!) so we scheduled the ultrasound appointment for the same day. YAY!!!

Poppy at Mommy's work!

Hello everyone!! Well I have figured out how to use the portable ultrasound machine at work! I was attempting to take a still picture but I took a video of the still picture instead. This is Poppy sucking his/her thumb (I think!). I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!! We are so in love!!

An almost 13 week belly!!!

Hey everyone!! Sorry for the late post. Well we have almost made it to the end of the first trimester. I am still feeling pretty good!!! No morning sickness and the tiredness is starting to go away (I think!). I think I am starting to get a handle on these emotions but sometimes something slips out of my mouth and I have to apologize for what I just said. Over the last week and a half my pants started to get a little tighter and I have noticed my waist getting thicker (ugh)!!! I defiantly have what some call a come and go belly. Its probably from the increased appetite I seem to have lately!! I love crunchy tacos and chocolate just doesn't seem to agree with me lately!!! We are both getting excited to see our poppy start to show its presence a little more. I have gotten in the habit of taking 5 minutes breaks at work to hid in a room with the doppler to listen to poppy's heart. Its really an awesome sound!!! As you can see I chopped off my hair. I like it, but I am starting to wish that I could just throw it back in a ponytail. I tell everyone it was a hormonal moment at the hair dresser. People at work say that I got a mom haircut!!!! We have started looking for baby furniture. Its so much fun but the prices are a little shocking.

Poppy got its first set of ice skates and red wings outfit for Christmas from Grandma!! Zach often questions, "What if Poppy doesn't like to do what I like to do! Zach's already planning on taking Poppy on its first flight with daddy and I am sure Zach has other hunting and fishing trips already planned. I am pretty sure Zach wants a boy!! I try to remind him that little girls can hunt and fish too!! We go back to see Dr. Levin on the 21st and we will have more updates for everyone then!!!
